Des has lived in Forde since commencing employment with Queensland Health in 2005. He works as a Radiographer at Logan Hospital and leads a team of highly trained professionals providing MRI services to people from Logan, Gold Coast, Brisbane and Ipswich. Working in the public health system, in Forde, he understands the importance of caring for people through the development and delivery of quality public health services.
Des and his wife Marta are the proud parents of three children. They are both active members and volunteers of a number of organisations in which their children are involved. Des has a high level of respect for the contribution that our education and sporting organisations make to the intellectual, emotional and physical development of our children. Des is particularly passionate about ensuring that all children and young adults have equal opportunity and access to world class education and training.
Des is an active, committed and proud member of his union and is passionate about fairness and equity in the workplace.
Des has always participated in sport where possible and enjoys staying fit and healthy through regular exercise, walking to work, going for bike rides with his children and eating well. He is currently preparing for Tough Mudder in May this year (2016) and believes that a healthy lifestyle contributes to a healthy mind and a happy life.
Des believes it is essential that a Member of Parliament is engaged with the community they live in and the people they represent. He also considers the role of an MP is to serve the whole community and deliver outcomes that benefit local people.
